Greek Island Hopping

I'm feeling overwhelmed trying to sum up my trip in a short, concise post.

In summary, it was a glorious, two week trip where I danced until dawn, waded around in crystal clear waters, slept on the beach, and saw the most breathtaking sunsets in the world.

And the long version?

Mykonos
-  We spent many many hours exploring the winding alleys of shops and bars; I still can't figure out the maze.
- Clubs in Mykonos love to play old American music.  A and I definitely heard ABBA's "Dancing Queen" being blared out of the speakers more than once.
-  "Jersey Shore" fist-pumping boys can be found all over the world.
-  Renewable Energy and Butcher
-  My bedtime was at dawn and I watched the sunrise at the beach three consecutive mornings.
-  Cavo Paradiso, which was built into the caves bordering the sea, might go down as one of the most beautiful club venues I've ever seen.
-  Nico's Place after hours
-  Those beaches are unbelievable-- rocky sands and clear blue water.  The water so so clear that I could see fishes nibbling at my toes!
-  I wore a bikini in public for the first time in ten years.  Ahhh!
-  R took me to Rhapsody, a local bar, where we ducked away in the corner, listening to crazy Greek music and admiring the view of the Mediterranean.
-  The orange juice, ohmygod, was the tastiest beverage on the planet.  OJ all morning and screwdrivers all night.
-  I had the most romantical dinner in Avra's twinkle-light-filled garden.
-  The lava rock jewelry was a very sweet gift.
-  Baklava crepes for breakfast are way better than Honey Nut Cheerios.

Santorini
-  I believe that Santorini has some of the most beautiful sunsets in the worlds.  The sky was painted with an unbelievable palette of purples, oranges, reds, and blues.
-  There are about six hundred steps from the base of the city to the top.  You can see a parade of donkeys making this trek multiple times a day.
-  I could eat grape leaves until I make myself sick.
-  Black sand beaches are hot!
-  I looked at more jewelry here in one week than I had in my entire life.  And I convinced myself to come home with a beautiful twisted silver ring.
-  A and I went volcano hiking and we were rewarded with the most spectacular views of the water.
-  Hike #2 lead us to the remote sandy red beaches, where I spent the afternoon napping and collecting rocks.
-  I had the best waffle of my life for breakfast.  Perfectly crisp, slathered with chocolate, and covered in bananas.  I still have dreams about this waffle.

Athens
-  I never want to ride on another ferry again.
-  I was a bit underwhelmed by the Acropolis, but I can now check it off the list.
-  The Athens Flea Market was an experience... someone else's trash was clearly not my treasure.
-  Nightlife is hopping in the city and we got to check out concerts in the quad and a bizarre silent interpretive play.
-  McDonald's overseas always have the best menus, include the McGreek!
-  No euros at the end of the trip meant a final (delicious!) meal of onions rings and waffles.
-  My cab driver to the airport asked me out for a coffee date.  "I drive you very fast and we get there early. But coffee first."  Funny, since I can't get a date in LA to save my life.
-  Thank goodness A and I got out of there, seeing as how riots broke out less thank 24 hours later!

Thanks, Greece, I had a great time.  I'm looking forward to visiting again one day!
