JKM: "Is it too last minute to show up in LA for the weekend?"
Piles of laundry can be pushed to the corner, errands can always be run later, and unsurprisingly, I'm always willing to put off book club pick for yet another week. A last minute weekend of good eats and great company sounded much more appealing.
We avoided the serious life matters on hand and instead explored the city, with an emphasis on food & drink.
Little Dom's
This little corner restaurant in Los Feliz is a low-key, cozy brunch spot. I approve of any place where, when ordering mimosas, they give you an option to just go ahead and order the entire bottle of Champagne.

Silo Vodka Bar
Apparently, based on the crowd, vodka is the drink of choice for people who are barely old enough to buy alcohol. Clearly, it's time for me to find a more sophisticated signature drink (if Vodka Sprite even counts?).
Seven Grand
Since JKM is a classier lady than I and scotch is her punishment of choice, we stopped by the whiskey bar down the street. Dead animal heads on the wall and a bunch of guys standing around and drinking made me feel like I was back in College Station.

This is the best place for an eight year old girl to host a tea party with her favorite stuffed animals. That said, I love the whimsical space and the delicious orange cranberry scones.
Le Posh
I know, it's not a restaraunt, it's a day spa. However, while getting our nails done, they offered us endless glasses of Champagne, so for that, they get a shout out.

Pink's Hot Dog
Whoa, this spot is incredibly overrated. Thankfully, there was no line; I don't understand these people who have waited hours for a sub-par hot dog; I'd rather have the 1.25$ hot dog from Costco.
Ado
Located in a tiny house just off Abbot Kinney, Ado is filled with a handful of candlelit tables and adorable Italian waiters. My choice of the red beet pasta with quail ragu was one of several unique items in the menu.
Primitivo Wine Bistro
Eh. Typical wine bar, nothing particularly stand out, but it's always nice to end the day with a glass of white.
Since I successfully gained three pounds in less than 48 hours, the next few meals (read: celery/carrots) felt like a crazy sort of punishment.
